What is a worldview? Is it visiting a soft lake for a swim? Is it appreciating a Shakespeare play while drinking a Bell's Oberon in a park somewhere? Is it reading the newspaper instead of a good book? Is it belief, or prejudice, or what?
My perfect worldview looks like a collision of epistemology with sentimentality. I like to read a Bible every morning while I'm on the can. And who doesn't love to discuss theology in a bar rather than in a church basement? There is the faith I have, and there is the knowledge I possess, but there is also the fool inside, the authentic fool, the one who doesn't connect faith with propriety. I just leave them dangling in an absurd collision. Absurdity. The gospel is absurd. The cross is ridiculous. People don't rise from the dead. The end. PS: But I still believe. I saw today that my alma mater, Cornerstone University, is offering a philosophy/worldview major. They didn't offer anything so radical when I was there. Probably a good thing, because otherwise I'd be making espresso drinks with that kind of degree.
